Here’s just a few things our platform powers: HubSpot’s chat and collaboration products, live score updates for millions of Australian Open tennis fans, and live transit updates for three million Chicagoans.

In the near future, Autonomous Vehicles, IoT devices (e.g. connected fridges or environment sensors), and AI-powered experiences will be the norm. But new infrastructure is required to power it all.

In this role

As we move into this period of high growth as a company, we are looking for a People & Talent Manager to be the internal champion of our company culture. You will help us revamp our on-boarding process, keep people happy, define and solidify our culture and values, develop our L&D, organize social events, and manage our talent acquisition process. Most importantly, you’ll make sure everyone feels like they’re valued, developing, motivated, rewarded and happy. 


Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the leadership team to develop our people strategy, supporting a high-performance culture that gets the best out of everyone.

  • Responsible for the whole employee lifecycle, from an awesome onboarding experience to compliance with training requirements to feedback cadence to celebrating milestones.

  • Drive our ongoing talent acquisition; ensure we’re hiring the right people for the culture and kind of company we want to build.

  • Be a trusted advisor and counsel on people-related issues and policies to team members across the whole company.

  • Own and level-up our people frameworks: performance management, career progression, learning and development.

  • Making sure everything we do aligns with our company goals and values. 

  • Strengthening Ably’s sense of community as we grow. 

  • Be prepared to put on many hats, especially in the first six to twelve months, as we scale our company rapidly.

Requirements

Skills and experience

  • Your passion is helping others achieve their very best.

  • You’ve led People teams before at high growth companies and know how to leverage the opportunities and challenges when scaling a company.

  • You’re super organised and fearless in making sure everyone commits to and follows the people policies you design to support a high performance culture.

  • Your leadership style is empathetic, approachable and candid and are able to build strong relationships across the business.

  • Culture matters deeply to you and you never tire of evangelising how we as a company can enable everyone to do their best work.

  • You value diversity and inclusion because you know we can only perform at the highest level when everyone can bring their whole self to work and we look at things from different perspectives.

  • You feel strongly aligned with our company values and want to be a big part of where we take them from here.

  • You have a broad understanding of all aspects of the HR function.

  • You have hands-on experience performing in a talent acquisition role.

  • You are excited about what we’re doing at Ably and where we’re headed!

  • Bonus: 

    • You have worked in a similar tech space, or at a SaaS or IaaS company.
